In the aftermath of their five-nil loss to Russia at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, it was difficult for the Saudi Arabian national soccer team to gain back morale. Fortunately, their fans were there for them, rallying behind them in a valiant effort to bring back pride to their nation. Despite being placed third in their group, the Saudis proved themselves as formidable opponents, beating the Egyptian team fielded by Mohammed Salah.
The team was ranked 69th in the FIFA rankings in 2018, a position they have since given up for a considerably more significant level of 53rd in 2022. They finished 28th in 2004, their highest ranking to date.
