Bernie Sanders and Jane – 30 Years
Who knew Jane and Bernie living merely 15 blocks away from each other would end up marrying one day. Before coming in touch with Jane in 1964, Sanders was married to Deborah Shiling, his sweetheart from college days. Things didn’t go as planned, and shortly both parted ways in 1966.
Life took a turn, and Sanders found his lady love, Jane O’Meara Sanders, and married her on May 28, 1988. On the work front, like other powerful political couples, Jane stays frequently involved in her husband’s political career. People call her Bernie’s closest advisor. They have been together for the last 30 years and support each other through thick and thin.
