LESLIE PHILLIPS – 97 YEARS
Leslie Phillips, a well-known comic actor, specializing in playing plump, iconically English stereotypes, has had a lifelong passion for acting. As a child, he received diction lessons to help him lose his natural British accent and also attended the Italia Conti School.
During the 1950s, Leslie established himself as a significant figure in British cinema. His most notable performance is in the Doctor in the House film series, which garnered him immense fame. He also worked in radio, most notably on the BBC’s The Navy Lark. In a career that lasted a decade, Phillips played dramatic roles and offered the voice of the Sorting Hat in the famous Harry Potter films.
